about

Told you I’d be back sooner than later. Trying to be a man of my word, even when it’s more convenient not to be haha.. My dad used to use that saying on me from time to time- the one about how an honorable man’s word is his bond. When I was younger, I thought I knew what it meant, but as I’ve gotten older and somewhat wiser, I’ve found that there’s much more to what he was trying to instill in me in order to become a man- a man of honor at that. It took my fathers passing for me to learn, but that’s life for you. Sometimes you gotta lose in order to find yourself.

Speakin’ of which, I didn’t have to dig too deep to get this one out on wax. The words came and next thing I knew I had a finished song on my hands. Sat on it for a month or so, not knowing when would be the appropriate time to release, but with Thanksgiving right around the corner, it just feels right. This may be the last one for the year, but we’ll see. I’m hoping to have a brand new Christmas joint for you this winter. Don’t hold me to it, though.

There’s quite a bit of verbiage in the song altogether, but I’ll give some insight on the record. Let’s start with the title. “Good with God” refers to how I’m living. Not to brag or boast, but things are goin’ really well in my life and I believe it’s because I’m doing right by God; I pray and give thanks, I fast and pay tithes, I provide for my family- anything that I believe is pleasing to God, I try my best to take action on. I used to suppress my spirituality because I didn’t think it was appropriate or cool to share through music, but I realize I was making up excuses so that I would write about the worldly things instead. I have no intention on being a Christian artist, but that doesn’t mean I gotta stop being a Christian while I’m writing these songs haha..

“Momma look, no hands— S/O to Elon Musk!” a reference to the autonomous driving mode, which is available in all three models of the Tesla. Had to mention the smartest man alive, especially after his legendary acquisition of the Twitter platform- which I’m very happy about, by the way. I may become more active on Twitter, then again.. maybe not.

I mention a few names in the second verse; String (George Tuiasoa), AK (Ake Fulilangi), Sione Ray (Tu’ineau), Wild Bill (Pila Toki), FatCat (Tomasi Burke). All of these brethren have passed, but I felt inclined to keep their legacies alive, somewhat, with this song. George has a record called “Simple Man” and I used his hook to open the second verse with. I could’ve added a slew of other names, but we don’t want a 10 minute song, do we? Haha..

Anyway, I poured my heart out on this one. Let me know if you feelin’ this- if so, don’t be a gatekeeper and share it with anyone and everyone you know. If you ain’t feelin’ it, let’s hope I get it right on the next one haha.. As always, my people, THANK YOU. Much love for your continuous support & love. Got more to come so stay with me. ‘Til next time- BLESSAWP!

“Good With God”
Lyrics by Sione Toki

Got good with God, now the heathens got it out for me
They see my blessings then pray for my demise
Hatin’ ain’t workin’ so they start throwin’ out lies on me
Said I don’t mind ‘cause all of ‘em lackin’ spine

Quick to get mad once they figure out they place
Quick to get a bag hustle’s in my second nature
Stuntin’ like my dad, know he’s in a better place
Everything I have, it ain’t for the lack o’ faith- nah

I’m giving thanks everyday- it’s a must
Momma look no hands, s/o to Elon Musk
Bought me up a bando
Ain’t waste it on Lambo’
Flipped it for a ticket now I got the upper hand
Double rubber bands
Weighin’ down my pants
Watchin’ for street magicians ‘cause they got the sleight o’ hand
Doin’ all I can, when I can
While you blame your being broke on the white man

Only thing change is I got mo’ land
Only thing change is I got mo’ tan
Only thing change is I got some Yeezy sandles
Only thing change all my bills gettin’ handled
Only thing change is I got mo’ stans
Only thing change is I got some bigger plans
Only thing change is I’m buyin’ up crypto
Only thing change is I got somethin’ to live for

Got good with God, now the heathens got it out for me
They see my blessings then pray for my demise
Hatin’ ain’t workin’ so they start throwin’ out lies on me
Said I don’t mind ‘cause all of ‘em lackin’ spine

Quick to get mad once they figure out they place
Quick to get a bag hustle’s in my second nature
Stuntin’ like my dad, know he’s in a better place
Everything I have, it ain’t for the lack o’—

I’m just a simple man lessened by ignorance
Suitcase full o’ garbage this how I get rid of it
For my dearly departed, I wish that y’all never went
StrinG, AK, big bro Sione Ray, Wild Bill, FatCat; Knockin’ your songs still, and it be like that
Void ever unfilled

Bro can I keep it ville wit’ ya
I’ll split the skrill wit’ ya
Do we have a deal
Long as I get to build wit’ ya

Only thing change is I’m wearin’ more robes
Only thing change all my tires off-road
Only thing change I got a few more options
Only thing change I do lil’ more shoppin’
Only thing change now I don’t believe payments
Only thing change I ain’t scared o’ no statements
Only thing change I got what people kill for
Only thing change I know exactly what I’m here for

Yeauh
S-I-O-N-E that’s me
