about
Happy Turkey Day! Another year practically down & gone already. Grateful to be alive and still in the mix as far as droppin’ music goes. The last release (Temptation) was so well received—I’ve gotten countless compliments online and in-person, so thank you all!
I don’t like holding too tightly onto the past, but I always find myself reminiscing tough during the holidays. Something about the change from fall to winter triggers my nostalgia. I start to think about past Thanksgivings/Christmases. My fondest memories take place during those times, so I tend to try n’ capture those thoughts within these Christmas songs. If I could drop Christmas music every year, I would—I mean, I try.. but as most of you know, I struggle keeping up with the regular releases as it is.
Music is such an effective book marker for our life stories. For example, when you hear a particular song and you’re taken back to a time and place- or even recall the emotions you had. Some studies suggest that listening to music, especially classical music, might enhance spatial-temporal reasoning and verbal memory in tasks. This means your brain gets better at visualizing shapes, movements, and figuring out how things fit together in space and time. It's like when you're trying to solve a puzzle or imagine how things move and relate to each other. In individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia, music often triggers memories from their past. This can improve mood, stimulate cognitive function, and temporarily enhance memory recall.
I kept all that in mind while making this Christmas song. My hope is that all of my Christmas songs play a part in your holiday celebrations, big or small. I’m not sure how true this is, but I’ve heard Christmas music is often associated with reducing stress by promoting relaxation and easing tension, making the holiday season more enjoyable. That’s the goal for me, at least.
As you can see, this time around I got some help from Toki.Mo, who delivered a simple, yet catchy second verse that helped tie the whole song together nicely. S/O to the bro for coming in clutch ‘cause I was close to not making it in time for Thanksgiving (songs need to be submitted to distributors 4 weeks in advance). Snowman’s an easy going song, not too hyped, not too mellow. I think it’d make a great addition to most Christmas playlists, so give a guy a chance haha.. Thank you so much, as usual, my friends. Here’s to another year down and another new one to come. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
lyrics
Don’t treat me like a snowman ‘cause baby you do
Girl you been actin’ cold to me
So cold to me
Been feelin’ like a snowman watchin’ what you do
Girl you leavin’ me froze
Why you actin’ cold to me, to me
Thought I was out o’ my mind
Thought I was wrong thinkin’ that you’d up and leave me behind, baby
I tried to act like I was blind
But now I see it’s just too obvious
Frost bite is somehow onto us, oh
How did we get colder than winter
We’ve had more warmer days
Scrolled to your profile on Tinder
And it left me blown away
‘Cause I still think you’re fine
Can I still call you mine, girl
Sure I made a few mistakes
And that I can’t deny, oh
I want this Christmas with you
Are you gon’ leave me lonely, lonely
Don’t treat me like a snowman ‘cause baby you do
Girl you been actin’ cold to me
So cold to me
Been feelin’ like a snowman watchin’ what you do
Girl you leavin’ me froze
Why you actin’ cold to me, to me
You do this every year
Snowflake when I’m around
OT I don’t hear from you
Then slide when I’m in town
How you so cold inside?
Even on Christmas night?
You ask for mistletoe then
Still push me to the side
Naw we ain’t got problems
I’m cool either way
So come thru or not girl
You know that I’ll be straight
Holiday time
Thought I’d put you on mine
You can keep tossin all that snow
Or peak wit me baby let’s go
This Christmas come run it wit me, baby
Just drop your pride and make the rest history
You’ll want this Christmas wit’ me
Girl I know that you’re lonely, lonely
Are you gonna leave me this Christmas
Can you
Can you let me know
Are you gonna leave me this Christmas
Can you
Can you let me know
