Happy 2019, everyone!
Back at it like I never left for 8 months. I know I say this a lot, but I’m sorry for the absence. As much as I want to explain myself and the reasons behind the slowdown, it’s best we look forward and let our past experiences, good & bad, better us. That being said, onto “Sade”!
For those that don’t know, Sade (Helen Folasade Adu) is a British Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. A very prominent artist in the late ‘80s and throughout the 90s’. If you don’t know who she is, you’re more than likely Gen-Z. You get the idea- she’s had a big influence on the game.
Speakin’ of which, this song here is heavily influenced by the legend. I’d be arrogant to claim that this record would live up to even an inch of Sade’s work, but I’m not that dumb. Truthfully, I probably shouldn’t affiliate her name with the record, but my funds startin’ to slack and plays are gettin’ low, so I need the clickbait haha.. This sort of composition is not my forte. The track had been on the back burner for a bit, but came across it while goin’ through the archive. It came down to a few tracks when deciding which would be the one to put out at the start of 2019. Because this one sounded like something I wouldn’t normally do, I’m runnin’ with it.
Whether the record does well or not (whatever that means), I’m never too sure, but I certainly hope it might capture one person’s attention at the very least. That’s all I can hope for in the end, anyway. Not that I don’t care if these songs reach a good number of people, ‘cause I most definitely want to be heard. At the same time, I’ll take what I can get haha..
Alrighty, fam. Feel free to let me know what your thoughts are on the track. I appreciate the input when I get it. Also, if you haven’t already, sub to my YouTube channel as I will be utilizing that much more often than I have in the past. There’s even a lyric video in the works and that’ll be on the YouTube channel soon after the release. Also coming soon is my Patreon page. I believe I mentioned It before, but I got hemmed up on that too. If this year permits, it might be the busiest year yet, but that’s if eve thing goes accordingly. But alright, friends! Enjoy this single. More on the way!
BLESS, BLESS.
lyrics
“Sade” by Sione Toki
Intro
It doesn’t matter if I’m somewhere else
She hold me down like no one else before
Chorus
So we freeway ridin’ (ridin’)
Doin’ 95 wit’ my Sade (Sade)
Only 1 ring when I'm callin'
Doin’ 95 wit’ my ride-or-die
Woah, when you're cold
I'll be there, ride-or-die
1st Verse
She been wit’ it from the drop yeauh (yeauh)
She be ridin’ every hour ‘round the clock yeauh (yeauh)
When I’m out, when I’m with her on the block yeauh (yeauh)
Dwayne Johnson, know I'm solid like The Rock yeauh (yeauh)
On time when we rollin’
Touchin’ all sides when I go in
Baby all sighs when I throw in
Like the way I keep rockin’ the boat and still be rowin'
Pre-chorus
It doesn’t matter if I’m somewhere else now
She hold me down like no one else before
Chorus
So we freeway ridin’ (ridin’)
Doin’ 95 wit’ my Sade (Sade)
Only 1 ring when I'm callin'
Doin’ 95 wit’ my ride-or-die
Woah, when you're cold
I'll be there, ride-or-die
2nd Verse
I know for me she’d prolly give it all
All right or when it all goes wrong
No switchin’ for a change back
Win or lose, in a hoopty or a Maybach
Girl, they on the outside lookin’ in
They wouldn’t understand us
Ene-mies will come disguised as friends,
The closer I get to famous
I already know that we ridin’ ’til the sun rise
Ya down that’s no doubt
Ya down that’s no doubt
Chorus
So we freeway ridin’ (ridin’)
Doin’ 95 wit’ my Sade (Sade)
Only 1 ring when I'm callin'
Doin’ 95 wit’ my ride-or-die
Woah, when you're cold
I'll be there, ride-or-die
Outro
Even on the outside, baby, when I can’t get in
You show me, you’re so much better than these h**s'
When I’m gone, on the road, and then right back again
I’ll find ya, waitin’ for me right at home
