In the midst of all the polarization and divisiveness, the issue of deciding whether releasing music would be appropriate or not has been weighing on me tough, to say the least. I don’t remember a time in my life when the world has been this loud and so hard bent on who is right, accusing/condemning who they think is wrong. The word “racism”, and every ugly word related to it, is flung like rocks intended to defame or destroy anyone who the throwers deem as evil. On the other side they ridicule those who genuinely believe the system is inherently lopsided. 2020, the most technically advanced time in modern human history; internet, mobile devices, cars, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc. In the same year, we have become incapable of the most basic human action & gesture; forgiveness & love. We can’t have one without the other.

As corny as it may seem at a time like this, I believe it’s the solution.. well, that and music. Which brings me to my next point. As crazy as times are right now, I’ve decided to go out on a limb and let another one fly. This one is for those who feel the need to drown out the screaming & hollering with a good ol’ fashioned love song.. or for those who need a quick 3-minute-escape from it all. Times like this, I can’t imagine life without headphones, let alone music. Nothing about the song is controversial. It’s just love-lyrics on a smooth vibe made from scratch. Simple, sweet and worthy of repeat… knock on wood.

The song is called “Think o’ Me”, written and produced by yours truly and indubitably. I started working on the song pre-pandemic, but was sidetracked by life.. as usual. If you’re thinking there’s a pattern here, there most definitely is. Anyway, mid-pandemic, after leaving the song partial for some time, I had lost most interest. What was happening to the world at that moment, it seemed as though my future and music would take a turn for the worst. Shows I had lined up throughout the summer suddenly fell through- I even had plans for Australia to work with the brethren Konecs and SwitchE Dalb (S/O the bros), but the pandemic just hit Utah and the day my flight was scheduled for, Utah was literally shaken by an earthquake, shutting down the airport. Big plans all dead in the water.

I don’t fret, though. A month later, after much time at the drawing board, I concluded my situation was a blessing in disguise.. a really, really convincing disguise at that. From there I was able to finalize the record, as well as some others, but what began as an unsuspected setback, became an opportunity to step back and see the bigger picture, which would then lead to yet another way to the goal. With that I’m going to shamelessly quote myself “You make up excuses, meanwhile I make a way”.
